Every day there are reports in the business news of IT Security problems experienced by even the most sophisticated of enterprises.

The law firm of Shumaker Williams, PC and IT provider and consultant GDC, LLC will jointly present a program designed to provide HR professionals with the basic IT security concepts and issues to improve your ability to communicate with IT professionals and design and implement personnel policies and procedures designed to minimize IT risk.

These threats include:
1. Ransomware

2. Other malicious malware which can do damage or shut down your systems; increasingly this can affect not only your office platform but the software running your factory floor, and even “simple” devices connected to the Internet

3.Theft or destruction of proprietary, confidential and personal data

As HR professionals, we all need to learn new concepts and a new language in order to interface with IT professionals who are tasked with providing IT security to our companies.

With these new threats also come legal questions (many unanswered by the courts), and insurance questions.
